The New York Times has given extensive coverage to the problem of American swimmers who lied to justify their absence from the Rio de Janeiro Olympic event.
The October 8th, 2016 article strongly condemns the attitude of the athletes, but overly highlights some of Brazilians problems, especially poverty and crime.
More than 2,700 readers wrote for the newspaper, most condemning the four, but not infrequently putting something negative against Brazil.
The newspaper welcomed and posted the messages I posted on its website.

O New York Times deu ampla cobertura ao problema dos nadadores americanos que mentiram para justificar sua ausência na prova olímpica no Rio de Janeiro.
O artigo de 8 de outubro de 2016 do jornalista Lochte condena veementemente a atitude dos atletas, mas destaca com excesso algumas de nossas mazelas, especialmente a pobreza e a criminalidade.
Mais de 2.700 leitores escreveram para o jornal, a maioria condenando os quatro atletas, mas não raro mencionando algo negativo contra o Brasil.
